Carrière de la Buisse

Early in my career I lived in Grenoble for a few years, and since all my friends were in Lyon, I drove the A48 more times than I can count. Coming down towards Voiron, your eye lands inevitably on that huge scar in the mountain. That's the Buisse quarry. On the other side of the motorway stands the Bec de l'Orient, marking the gateway to the Alps, the start of the playground. This is the road of long summer holidays in the Vercors, and a few kilometres on, near Voreppe, we'll pass under the flying buckets of the Vicat plant carrying ore over the motorway and the main road. With my mother we never took the motorway, it was too expensive, and in a Citroën AX it was too dangerous anyway.
